Stephen G. Mercadante
About
Stephen G. Mercadante was born in Mt. Vernon, New York. He moved to Gainesville, Florida during high school, and upon graduation attended the University of Florida where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Stetson College of Law in 1980. After graduation from law school, Steve returned to Gainesville and became a member of the law firm of Schackow & Mercadante in 1981. For the past 41 years, Steve has represented thousands of personal injury victims.
Steve was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1980 and is a member of the United States Northern District, Middle District, and Southern District. During his legal career, Steve has been a member of the James C. Adkins American Inns of Court and the Eighth Judicial Bar Association. Steve has been very active in his community and has been a volunteer at the Gainesville Recreation Department, the Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County, American Legion Post 16, PK Yonge High School, and has mentored married couples and youth through his church and other organizations. For the past 20 years, Steve worked as an adjunct professor at Santa Fe College, where he taught courses in Personal Injury and Litigation.
Steve is married to Lynne and has 2 sons as well as 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and a variety of sports and recreational activities, including running, weight training, snow skiing, and cycling.
